Julie McKenzie : Australian Landscape Painter
I have spent most of the last 45 years making things like paintings, gardens, houses, jokes, music and babies. Now I concentrate on paintings and gardens.
I am a firm believer in supporting and participating in arts at a local community level.

2005 - Opened Kingstudio Gallery on 2nd July & hosted Escape Artfest, the local southern Shoalhaven Art Festival and
‘Sculpture in the Forest’ - opening our 5 acre sculpture garden to the public.
2005 to now - Kingstudio Gallery,Milton/ Maclean - exhibiting artist and coordinator/ curator.
2002 - Studio development, concentrating on painting. Exhibiting work at the Village Green in Milton with sales locally and overseas including Sydney, Melbourne, Canada, Japan, London, US, India, Switzerland.
2000 - 2008 Screen printing with Malcolm King - Publishing print portfolios with a number of leading Australian artists, including
David Boyd, Wendy Sharpe and Adam Cullen.
1999 - 2002 Ulladulla Youth Outreach Worker. Project work included coordination of theproduction of two CD’s with young people from across the Shoalhaven. Coordination of a large mosaic floor based on reconciliation with input from 50 young people at the Ulladulla Youth Centre.
Coordination of Ulladulla Youth Theatre and ‘Circus What The..!?’. initiating Circus as Sport in local Shoalhaven high schools.
Painting.
1997 - Relocated Mountain King Designs (now Kingstudio) to Milton, south coast NSW
1995 - 1997 Coordinator of Upper Mountains Youth : Projects included grafitti art, mask making, traditional indigenous art for young people from aboriginal backgrounds, music festivals, circus skills etc
1994 - Designed and screen printed a series of sexual health and AIDS awareness posters and an aged care brochure aimed at migrants for, and funded by, Nepean Area Health.
Painting.
1993 - 1999 established Mountain King Designs with Malcolm King as a screen printing and graphic arts business in the Blue Mountains. Studio development .
1992 - Perth, community art collaboration with Malcolm King on youth murals funded through Wannaroo Council.
1989 - Studio development, including screen printing, painting, sewing, craft, designing knitwear.
1988 - Various Community Art Commissions in the Blue Mountains
1987 - Blew Burd Studio, Renaissance Centre, Katoomba. An artist run collective, workshop and retail outlet.
1986 - Various community arts projects ie murals in the Blue Mountains collaborating with Malcolm King.
1985 - International Year of Youth collaboration with Malcolm King - murals for Maclean High School, north coast NSW, including work with indigenous students.
1982 - Painting in the studio and designing knitwear.
First solo show “Not Just Another Kangaroo” in Leura NSW.
